6th Annual Charity Golf Tournament - Adam B.

Our participation in the 6th Annual Shining Hope Farms Charity Golf Tournament was more than a marketing or philanthropic exercise — it was an opportunity to stand alongside an organization that provides hope, healing, and empowerment to children, adults, and veterans throughout our community. The event reminded us of the extraordinary impact Shining Hope Farms continues to make each day through their equine-assisted therapy programs, veteran outreach, and commitment to inclusion. We were especially proud to see how our shared values came to life during the tournament. As a company that employs veterans and believes in supporting their continued growth, it was deeply meaningful to stand with a nonprofit that mirrors that same mission. The Saddles & Salutes veteran program is a testament to how healing, confidence, and camaraderie can be rebuilt in the most inspiring ways — through connection, compassion, and care. This year’s tournament also carried special significance for us through our salesman Josh Elliott, whose two children have personally benefited from Shining Hope Farms’ programs. Seeing the direct, life-changing difference that SHF has made in his family’s life strengthened our appreciation for this organization and reaffirmed why our support matters. We were truly honored to participate in this year’s event — sharing the course, conversations, and community with so many generous hearts who believe in SHF’s mission. From the first tee-off to the last putt, it was a day filled with purpose, fellowship, and fun.

Committed To Guest Service - Brian F.

Guest had just started out on a long road trip from Virginia to Florida. About two hours into her trip, she became alarmed by a burning smell and smoke pouring from their hood. Their plan was to drive through the night and arrive in Florida in the morning. They pulled into our parking lot just before our sales team left for the night. Service is open until 8:00, but this was after the advisors and techs had left for the evening. Josh Elliott warmly greeted them and popped the hood to inspect. What he saw was oil all over the top of the engine, and while he was not a technician, he knew that they needed to pause their trip until the situation could be resolved. Josh helped to unload kids and transfer necessary items to a shuttle and personally helped them to a hotel. The kids were offered drinks and snacks from the service lounge. The service manager was notified right away. The next morning the vehicle was brought into Mark Wilburn (advisor) and Fred Mergen (Sr. Master Tech). The aftermarket oil filter which had just been replaced a day prior to the trip at an independent shop had a tiny pin hole which sprayed oil once the system was under pressure. The oil filter was switched to an OEM, oil topped off, and vehicle was whisked off to detail where our detail manager Brett took time to make sure that none of the sprayed oil would leak down onto the vehicle’s exhaust again. The customer was brought back and resumed their trip by 10:00am.

Ashton’s deep roots in the community and athletic journey—from his high school playing days to competing as an offensive lineman for Davidson College—made him a meaningful and inspiring presence for honorees and attendees alike. Ashton’s dedication reflects our core values at Randy Marion Subaru: giving back, lifting others, and investing in the future. His volunteer service embodies the Subaru Love Promise in action. Empowering Tomorrow's Automotive Technicians: A Mentorship Journey at Randy Marion Subaru - Brian F.

The 2024 GCADA Auto Tech Competition served as a platform for Randy Marion Subaru to extend its commitment to nurturing future automotive technicians. With the privilege of hosting and mentoring three students from Iredell County, our dealership embarked on a journey of mentorship and skill development. Under the guidance of our master tech, Ryan Simmons, and service manager, Tim Lawson, these students were immersed in a transformative experience aimed at preparing them for the rigors of competition and the challenges of a career in automotive technology. We recognize the importance of mentorship in shaping the next generation of automotive professionals. As the host dealership for the 2024 GCADA Auto Tech Competition, we embraced the opportunity to impart knowledge, skills, and industry insights to aspiring technicians from Iredell County. Ultimately, our mentorship program aimed to empower these students with the tools and confidence needed to succeed both in the competition and beyond. Preparing for the Competition: The Auto Tech Competition presented a unique challenge for participants: to service a vehicle within a two-hour time frame. Recognizing the importance of thorough preparation, Tim, Ryan and their team at Randy Marion Subaru spared no effort in equipping the trainees with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this high-stakes environment. Through hands-on training sessions, simulated competition scenarios, and real-world challenges, the students honed their technical prowess and problem-solving abilities. Under the watchful guidance of their mentors, they tackled complex automotive tasks with determination and precision, gaining invaluable experience and confidence with each passing day. Embracing Community Engagement: Beyond the confines of the competition, Randy Marion Subaru's involvement in the Auto Tech Competition & Career Fair underscored our dealership's commitment to community engagement and support. By partnering with local schools and educational entities, we leveraged this event as an opportunity to inspire and empower aspiring automotive technicians. Through our mentorship program and participation in the competition, we sought to foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and excellence within our community. Our goal was not only to prepare students for a one-time event but to instill in them a lifelong passion for automotive technology and a commitment to continuous growth and development. Impact and Legacy: As the 2024 GCADA Auto Tech Competition drew to a close, the impact of Randy Marion Subaru's mentorship journey became evident in the performance and growth of our future technicians. While the competition itself served as a testing ground for their skills and abilities, the true measure of success lies in the lasting legacy of mentorship and empowerment that we have instilled in these students. As they embark on their journey beyond the competition, we remain committed to supporting and cheering them on every step of the way.

Love story - Dog Rescue - Brian F.

One morning the team at Randy Marion Subaru noticed a dog wandering about our parking lot. All of us were immediately concerned that this dog would get hit by a car as our dealership is located on a busy street in Mooresville. We all agreed this dog was now our responsibility and quickly took her in to make sure she had food and water. Later that day we found the owners, who unfortunately were unable to care for the adorable girl we learned was named Katherine. One of our team members quickly stepped up and decided to adopt her, and since then has cared for her and given her a safe and loving home!

Best Subaru Service Ever! - Chuck R.

We would just like to thank Randy Marion Subaru for the excellent service they provided for us on Saturday, January 7th. On our travels from Maine our transmission stopped working in Mooresville. It was 3:55pm and their service department closes at 4pm. We were one mile away and after filling up with gas our car would not move when shifted into drive. We were able to go in reverse and called Randy Marion Subaru and my call went to text message. Luckily, we got our car into drive and were able to drive one mile to Subaru. When we arrived the service department greeted us and it would not drive forward so he backed the car around and into the shop. They were all so kind and the technician found the cable to the transmission was loose. He reconnected the cable and checked all fluid levels and tire pressure and we were very happy to be on our way to find a place to stay for the night. Everyone in that business went above and beyond to provide the best service possible. Best Subaru service ever! Thank you! Tim and Gayle

Bags of Hope -- Supporting students in our local community. - marshall m.

Bags of Hope is an agency that provides weekend food bags to students with food insecurity in our area. Typically, children we serve are on free and reduced lunch at school and may not have food on the weekend. Research shows that when a child doesn’t eat enough on the weekend, he or she isn’t ready for instruction the following week until Tuesday. The bags go home with the children on Friday and contain 3 dinners, 2 breakfast, 2 lunch and 5 snacks. The beauty of Bags of Hope is a lot of red tape isn’t required for a child to participate just a referral from a teacher, counselor, or social worker. Very often we are serving multiple students from the same household. The bags are filled with food donated by individuals or organizations like Randy Marion Subaru, or is purchased thru monetary donations. Volunteers hold food drives, pack the bags, and deliver bags to the children at the schools. Randy Marion Subaru held a food drive and made a cash donation, also several of their staff came onsite to stuff 500 bags for the weekend. The goal of Bags of Hope is to make sure the students we serve are fed well and ready for instruction each week, we appreciate Randy Marion Subaru partnering with us to achieve this goal.

SATURDAY SHARE - marshall m.

Randy Marion Subaru began serving alongside Saturday Sharing on Saturday mornings in April of this year. Saturday Sharing is a group of volunteers that serves the housing insecure in Charlotte by providing toiletries, clothes, food, and identifying individual needs by developing relationships. The goal was to combat the hidden dangers of summer, and to help a community that is often overlooked. Employees from Randy Marion passed out reusable water bottles, sunglasses, sunscreen, cooling towels, hand-held fans, mosquito repellant and new socks on “the block”. The Block is a gathering place for many of our homeless neighbors making it the best place to “share”. Saturday mornings became special we gave people things in person that they needed immediately. Smiles were shared, conversation was made, and we learned of specific needs. The smile is brighter when you remember who needs XXL socks and you can present them to him the following Saturday. . “Randy Marion Subaru’s campaign “It’s Cool to Share the Love” help to prevent heat exhaustion, sun poisoning, dehydration, and eye injuries for our housing insecure neighbors in Charlotte, truly a life saving measure.” Terri Karam, Saturday Sharing

THE FEATHER PROJECT

Reducing High Blood Pressure in Iredell County - Randy M.

Randy Marion Subaru was proud to be a part of the Adopt-A-Clinic program with the American Heart Association, benefitting two Iredell County health systems, providing 70 complimentary blood pressure cuffs with hypertension educational materials to patients that show the most need in Iredell County. Diseases of the heart are the second leading cause of death, and cerebrovascular disease is the third leading cause of death in Iredell County. According to the Iredell County Health Department’s 2019 Community Health Assessment, 35% of Iredell community respondents reported having high blood pressure and 32% of community respondents believe heart disease is the top health concern in Iredell County. Nationally, more than 116 million American adults have high blood pressure and 75% of them do not have their blood pressure under control. High blood pressure increases an individual’s risk of heart disease and stroke and serves as a deadly risk factor for COVID-19. Hypertension hits close to home with some of our own Randy Marion Subaru employees fighting high blood pressure every day. As a result of this initiative, one of our employees now regularly monitors and tracks his blood pressure, which helps to control one of his personal risk factors for heart disease and stroke. Randy Marion Subaru is grateful to continue their collaboration with the American Heart Association in saving lives right here in our community. We celebrated the success of this community impact at the Iredell Heart Ball. Social Media Pages:Facebook: @AHANorthCarolinaTwitter: @AmericanHeartNC
